XPG Summoner RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

0

I would like to say that I have seen all the functionality of the keyboard in the world before, but that is just not true. There is a first time for everything, I guess. Today we meet the XPG Sumer RGB gaming keyboard that has a built-in USB Pass-through port. Summoner features Cherry Mx switches, 7 preset RGB modes, a media control key, 100% anti-ghosting keys, per-key RGB backlighting, and a sandblasted aluminum frame priced at $ 79.99.

XPG did a really good job on this sandblasted aluminum frame design. The color and texture on the face of the frame are off. Only the upper part of the frame is made of aluminum, its rear support is made of plastic. It doesn’t have the weight or stiffness of other aluminum framed keyboards, but it looks mega. In order to give Summoner a built-in USB Passthrough port, the cord actually has 2 USB 2.0 Type A outputs like a two-headed snake. Having a USB port on your keyboard can be useful, especially if your gear is out of range. You can extend the range of your headset or webcam, or just use it to charge your mobile devices. I’m not sure about the design of the volume control, it’s a bit of an acquired taste, but it doesn’t affect your gameplay anyway.

Cherry MX switches offer great performance, if you haven’t heard of them yet, you’re not doing enough keyboard research. You can also get this keyboard in silver or blue switches depending on what you like. The stats line of these Cherry Mx features 45g operating force, 1.9mm actuation point, and fast responsiveness rate. The 100% anti-ghosting technology included with this product is mandatory for all gaming keyboards. Some players prefer their WASD or arrow keys to be a different color, here XPG gives you the option to change them to red with a kit custom included in the package. I’m not generally a fan of palm rests but this one is very comfortable; it is certainly useful on long grinds. It’s magnetically connected, so if you’re sick of it, take it out right away. In terms of performance, this XPG Summoner is exactly where it needs to be at this price point.

XPG, like most of their products, puts a lot of effort into RGB because we all know RGB is life. You get 7 preset RGB modes on a per-key backlight setup. If that’s not enough for you, it’s powered by XPG Prime, one of the strongest customization software out there. I would be lying to you if I said this keyboard wasn’t a stunner. An excellent product to light up your battle station. Priced accordingly, you won’t feel bad spending $ 79.99 on this keyboard.
