STARTUP FINANCIAL PROJECTIONS: STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL | FROM FOUNDER AND EX-CONSULTANT

Welcome back, in this video, I wanted to show you, step-by-step, how you can make 5-year financial projections (based on cost and revenue break-down, all of it culminating with EBITDA) for your startup idea. Financial projections are essential for validating an idea (seeing if it will generate enough profit), calculating EBITDA CAGR, as well as computing a valuation based on discounted cash flows, etc. You need financial projections both for yourself and to present to potential angel/VC investors or an accelerator.

I will also be giving you practical tips: both tips on the content, from my experience as a founder, as well as tips on format, from my experience in a top, MBB consulting firm.

I will be using my usual fictitious business, Happy &Vegan, as an example: you can download the Excel template from my website, www.angelinasbusinessworld.com

Holland Ventures is one of the oldest VC firms in the Netherlands that started in 1981. “We invest in early stage tickets between 500k and 3 million, and in later stage we invest between 3 million and 6 million. You can give us a call if you are a Dutch Technology or Healthcare company”. “We provide more than capital, we are very hands on, we try to add a lot of value to the companies that we invest in. I know that this is something other investors also use in their pitch, but I always say: we really do it” – Niels van Aalten at COSRTM17

These videos are part of the Capital On Stage event. Capital On Stage believes that tech startups, Investors (VC’s) and enterprise innovators form the perfect triangle when it comes to creating and innovating businesses. Therefor the goal is to create an atmosphere in which all parties can emphasize their qualities and share their knowledge without biased opinions. How its done? Innovation means disrupting the norm, roles are reversed as investors pitch to startup founders. In addition, startup founders get guaranteed one-on-one time with the investors of their choice. To ensure only the most promising entrepreneurs fill the room, all applicants are pre-screened based on concept and growth-stage. The matchmaking process makes sure attending founders, investors and enterprise innovators complement each other as all relevant industries are represented by either party.
